Mindful Movement for Sleep

Mindful movement : using directive cues, learn to move your body in a way that feels right for you.

Whether you are unable to fall asleep or you have woken up  after being asleep, take a few moments to notice your body while laying on her back. (If you are unable to lay on your back, lay in a position that is comfortable for you).

To begin, draw your knees in to your chest and begin to move your knees side to side in a way that is comfortable for you. Listen to your body.

When you feel ready, if you’d like, move your knees together to one side for a spinal twist. Move your arms and neck in a complimentary way. Stay here in a twist or continue to move in a slow and deliberate way, paying attention to your breath.

If your thoughts begin to distract you, come back to your breath and move in a way that syncs your breath with your movement. Move at a pace and in a way that feels right for you.

Breath in, draw your knees in to your chest, Breath out, move your knees to one side in a twist. Stay here for as long as you’d like.
