Mundane sounds such as traffic, clocks ticking, and other everyday sounds may also evoke a reaction in the body. The purpose of this exercise is to stay present with the reaction to sound and just notice. Perhaps you notice something you have not noticed before, like the sound of your shoes on the ground, or the sound of keys as you type. By noticing the every day sounds, you will become present in your everyday life.
To practice, simply notice the sounds around you. Notice the thoughts or sensations in the body the sounds evoke. Tuning into the sounds around will bring you back to the present moment.
