Coming back to the basic sense of touch can help ground you in the moment and reduce stress. This exercise can be done at anytime with every day objects, such as the fabric of a chair, or the material of your clothing.
To begin, notice an object that is within easy access, perhaps even something you touch every day, such as a keyboard or a chair.
If you are outside, notice the texture of a tree trunk or a leaf.
As you notice the sensation of touch, bring your mind to focus on the object in your hands, or as it touches your fingertips. Notice all its details, the texture, density, temperature. Allow yourself to be completely present as you tune in to your sense of touch.
